Somebody, please, take me back to last weekends adventures at Gondwana Game Reserve? Three days of peace, quiet, animals, good food, great views, and too much laughing – it was so good and I miss it!
Gondwana is located just outside of Mossel Bay along the Garden Route – Talya, Raya and I set out early Friday morning and after a few snack stops, one missed turn, and hours of Talya’s DJ skills – we were there! Hello heaven, is that you? Upon checking in we were told that the wifi only works at the reception area which to be honest, although surprising, was probably the best thing we could have asked for – no distractions, social media, or emails for a whole weekend was AMAZING. After a bit of a tour and discovering the beautiful pool with a view, restaurant and bar – we were taken on a short drive to our huge 3 bedroom Bush Villa. The villa’s are super isolated, and super laid back – we had no distractions between activities other than our heated massive beds and each other, and it really made the hole experience just feel like a fancy girls weekend away! There are no fences in Gondwana so a little surprise visit from The Big 5 right outside your front door is not uncommon and we were told not to venture far outside the villa – HA – the three of us may or may not have ended up frolicking in the field anyways, anything for the pictures right?
I was all about the game drives – super early morning and late evening spent on the back of a ranger vehicles which kinda felt like a safari roller coaster. There were zebra and game everywhere, and quite a few giraffe spottings. My most exciting part was seeing cheetah up close and witnessing two lion cubs finishing off their meal – oh and watching the hippo laze around in a lake! Gondwana you absolute beaut, you were just what I needed.
More adventures – and evening snaps – to come in the next post!
