This one could just turn out to be quite a big one for me as Jedd, Neville, and I have some big plans of moving abroad in a few months time. I have however, decided not to make any grand resolutions of change because I have the will power of a sock and also, I will probably forget any resolutions in a weeks time. So instead, here’s 5 things I can’t wait for in 2016.
BEING MORE OF A GIRLBOSS
I haven’t talked much about work here in 2015, in fact, I’m not sure I actually ever explained what I do outside this blog other than eat a lot of pizza. My only explanation to this is that throughout the past year I genuinely had no idea what I was, professionally. I started 2015 as a social media manager at an online store after having spent the previous years as a full time fashion photographer, then around mid-year my photography workload got heavier, and I decided to take a very necessary break from the desk job. In between that, I freelanced on design work, started a side business creating social media content for brands, and of course attempted to snap something nice for this blog every now and then. Today I’m starting 2016 as a blogger-slash-photographer-slash-content creator-slash-I DON’T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE, but happy to know for a fact that I will be making more ‘Continue Reading’ buttons this year than last, and I’m really looking forward to it all.
One of my absolute favourite things to do is travel to faraway places and having a bit of an adventure, and I’m planning on taking way more time to do more this year. Last year I went on a few Safari’s and visited London and Ireland – and 2016 hopefully sees a few more trips abroad than that. I feel like starting your year with a trip to a place as amazing as the Transkei can only mean good things – here’s to a year of adventurous travel!
CAPE TOWN ADVENTURES
Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to be living in a city as dynamic as Cape Town, with THOSE beaches and THAT scenery. I love Cape Town for the rich diversity of culture and all the little quirks, like its incredible assortment of coffee shops and beautiful beaches complete with the coldest water I’ve ever felt. I didn’t manage to share as many of my favourite spots in this city last year, and I’m keen to change this.
I’ve been muttering about this for so long it’s actually getting embarrassing, but I promise you’ll be seeing my stupid face on Youtube soon.
SHARING THE LOVE
I’ve long been a believer that sharing really is caring, and that keeping knowledge of a skill to yourself, terrified that someone else will steal your tricks and unhappy that others haven’t worked as hard as you to acquire the same knowledge, is a terrible weakness. Two years ago I started a blogging class with a close friend of mine which was an amazing experience, and this year I want to revisit that with an online version. I truly believe that knowledge should be free, and plan to blog/youtube more about the tricks of this trade that I’ve picked up over the last few years.
