I know it’s been a while, but I’ve spent the past month doing a bit of travelling. We left Marrakech exactly a week ago today, and in so many ways it feels like a complete dream after wanting to go there for so long. There’s so much write about, and was so much to photograph, I don’t really know where to start! Morocco was a shock to my senses every morning when I stepped outside of our riad into the heat and bustle. I felt most alive when walking around the souks, taking in every sight, smell and sound, and watching all of the smiling faces and moterbikes whizzing past. It’s breathtaking, it’s rough, and it’s undeniably beautiful. Everywhere I looked there were carpets in all colours and sizes hanging from balconies, berber jewellery in silver, turquoise and coral, and the most intricate metal work I’ve ever seen. We did so many things during our stay in this country, but I found myself coming back to the souks time and time again because there is just so much to see, and so many paths to get lost down. The people here are amazing, as are the colours, the energy, the heat. It’s an adventure everyone should experience, that’s for sure.
I’m going to be talking about my experience a bit more, focusing on where to stay, eat, shop, and see in my next post, as well as our next destination – Chefchaouen! The amount of pictures I took was just so ridiculous that I thought I’d do a big photo journal first though – I’m literally smiling looking at these images because it takes me straight back into the souks and 37 degree heat. Oh Marrakech, I’ll be back!
